Junior Team Tennis

USTA Junior Team Tennis is a very popular junior recreational program and Georgia has one of the largest in the country.  The Local pathway is called the “USTA Southern Junior Team Tennis League” (SJTTL).  This program is designed to provide youngsters with a fun team format consisting of singles, doubles and mixed play for boys and girls of all skill levels.  Local league play can qualify players for the USTA Georgia Junior Team Tennis State Championships, with further advancement to the USTA Southern Sectional Championships.

8U , 10U  and 12U Courts and Equipment

USTA Junior Team Tennis play for the 8U, 10U and 12U age groups will use a modified format and/or equipment that allows children to start playing tennis on teams immediately!

  • 8U Divisions will play on a 36′ court with the red felt or red foam ball.
  • 10U Beginner and Intermediate divisions will play on the 60′ court using orange low compression ball.  10U Advanced Divisions will play on a full court using green low compression balls.
  • 12U Beginner and Intermediate Divisions will play on a full court using green low compression balls.  12U Advanced will play on a full court using yellow balls.

8 & Under
Court size: 36′
Ball: Red foam or red felt
Racquet: 19″, 21″ or 23″
Net: 18′ long and 2’9″ high
Scoring: Best of three games; first to score seven points wins the game and the first to win two games

10 & Under
Court size: 60′
Ball: Low compression orange
Racquet: 23″ or 25″
Net: Regulation net
Scoring: No more than match tie break in lieu of third set
