Georgia High School Players on Court
at the Pacific Life Open

With the month of March came the beginning of Daylight Saving Time, the first day of spring, and for members of the Camden County boys and girls high school tennis teams, the chance of a lifetime.  During the 2008 Pacific Life Open (PLO) at Indian Wells they were right there on the court as the top players in the world battled it out for titles at the world’s most attended professional tennis tournament outside the four grand slams.

Back in August, Camden County Head Coach Dan Vonk was invited to bring his teams to The Pacific Life Open to be ballkids.  Coach Vonk accepted, and immediately began the process of helping his team members raise the funds necessary to take advantage of this opportunity.  The ballkids are part of a group of close to 1,000 unpaid volunteers who make the PLO possible.  And it seems any sacrifices to get there were well worth it.  The Camden County teams have been invited back next year and are looking forward to making the trip again.
